One of the most popular ideas to answer the question, “what should I do about small business in the next five years,” is the development of international IPOs. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind about these proposals is that there will need to be some political willpower involved in order to get them through the system. Unfortunately, there is no way that this plan will fly without the backing of the United Nations. However, there is an outside-the-box solution to the dilemma of how to get businesses to expand: business financing. According to the same survey, fifty-two percent of all respondents recommended the development of a “business capital marketplace” to help small businesses. This means that the formation of private financial organizations to support businesses is the number one idea in what should be done about small business in the next five years.

Another idea gaining popularity, especially with younger and male respondents, is the creation of a” coworking space” or” coworking lounge.” These are spaces where people can gather to discuss work-related issues in an informal setting such as a coffee shop, board room, park, etc. Respondents suggested that this would have the added benefit of creating a more congenial atmosphere for employees. About a third of the respondents indicated that they would like to see their employers start using a similar setting at their place of work. This means that the idea of opening up a coworking space is now a very strong favorite with small business owners.

The idea of outsourcing has gained ground with small business owners because it allows them to focus on their core strengths. When asked what they would like to see most in the next five years, a majority of all respondents answered that they want to be able to hire people from other countries at a lower cost. Sixty-four percent of survey respondents indicated that they wanted to hire professionals who are paid well. As a result, more companies are outsourcing most of their administrative and secretarial services to offshore providers.

Outsourcing has been one of the top reasons why small business owners are optimistic about the future of the economy. Many business owners believe that this positive vibe will spill over to the federal government. According to the Survey of Small Business, the outlook for federal contractors has improved slightly, as contractors continue to feel more positive about their outlook for the future. Among all surveyed contractors, a smaller percentage of them said they were dissatisfied with their current employer. This is the first time that dissatisfaction has risen out of nowhere for contractors since the survey began.
